The woman pictured here is Victoria Knutson, a long-time friend of mine.
She held a discussion on gender roles in the media during Women's Week at
NDSU (1998). There was a lot of discussion during the talk and outside of
the talk. I found it interesting that many people held strong feelings on
the subject. To represent that, I show Victoria here in two sizes and
facing two different directions. Also, the two images are somewhat merged.
I know that I've changed my viewpoint on certain subjects from time to
time, suddenly doing an "about face". However, my new views are still
affected by my other beliefs and past experiences, which is what I'm trying
to show in this piece.
